COVID-19 Vaccinations – Patient Information

We are pleased to advise that our practice will soon be part of the national vaccination programme, which will also include mass vaccination, hospital and other settings where the vaccine will be made available.

We are following detailed National NHS guidance. In summary;

• You will not be vaccinated at the Practice – this is because of issues with storage and transportation of the vaccines. We are asking our patients to attend a vaccination centre in Eastbourne. Details will be confirmed shortly.
• You may be contacted direct by the vaccination centre – with our agreement and to help the practice manage the large volumes of calls we anticipate may be generated by this effort, it is likely that the vaccination centre (provided by our local GP Federation) will contact you directly to arrange your appointment
• Patients will be invited for vaccinations in line with National guidelines, however due to the initial deliveries being small the groups who will be contacted to receive the vaccine first may have to be even smaller. Please be patient as we work through the priority list

• Please do not contact the Practice about appointment availability, we don’t have any further information at the moment and it make it more difficult for other callers to get through to us.

Other important information

• The COVID vaccination is 2 vaccinations several weeks apart. Please remember that it is important to have both injections.
• The vaccination cannot prevent an infection that you have already been exposed to, your body takes several weeks to build up immunity after vaccination
• If you are unwell at the time you are invited for a vaccination your appointment may be postponed until you are better
• You still need to take all the same preventative measures
 social distancing
 wearing a face covering
 washing your hands regularly
 not mixing

It is vital that everyone continues to take these precautions https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know
